We now know that the consultation response received by Nottinghamshire County Council from HSE and ultimately referred to at the Tinker Lane determination meeting was merely a generic description of the role of HSE.
We were lead to believe that HSE made a considered response to the detail of Dart’s planning application. Clearly now with the release of the HSE document itself we have the evidence that this was far from the case. The response from the Coal Authority has also been released.
The concerns raised at the meeting of 21st March by Parish Councillors from Torworth and Blyth and others remain unanswered. We have been fobbed off with standard responses from both authorities but most worryingly from HSE.
We have yet to find out what exactly the Planning Officers asked of HSE. Was the HSE asked specifically to comment on the issues of subsidence & seismicity at Tinker Lane referred to by many local people in the Public Consultation. Did HSE realise that Dart were peddling data sets from the 1980’s that predated the closest deep mining activity to Tinker Lane site? A lot of questions remain that demand an answer if we are to have any confidence in the authorities charged with protecting the environment and the health and safety of our communities.
